Where it all begins

Joe and Frank McKenzie start Xupes from their family home in Hertfordshire. Combining Joe’s knowledge and love of watches, and Frank’s art, antiques and business experience, they set out to create a unique new online presence in an emerging market.

Moving up – and out

Xupes proves an instant success and with business booming, Joe, Frank and the growing team make the short but significant move into their first dedicated premises in Sworders Yard, Bishops Stortford.

Taking on the world

After a year in development, Xupes launches its new ecommerce website, xupes.com, as a standalone platform to expand its range of products and services and develop the Xupes brand.

Bright ideas

As the company’s operations and customer base continue to grow, Joe spots a fresh niche and launches the new Jewellery department to complement the established watches and art ranges.

On the move again

To accommodate a rapidly expanding team and make day-to-day operations more efficient, Xupes moves to its current headquarters - the restored 17th century Wheat Barn at Wickham Hall.

Bags of potential

Xupes diversifies further by launching the Handbag & Accessories Department. Created and led by Reece Morgan, it quickly becomes one of the UK’s leading pre-owned collections.

At your service

In response to customer demand, Xupes establishes its own service centre offering watch servicing, repairs and refurbishment, gaining accreditation from Cartier, Longines and Omega.

Capital boost

Xupes secures a £3 million investment to accelerate growth, expand the Watches & Handbags departments and support infrastructure, marketing, systems and website developments.

Wild times

Xupes stages a charity sale with florist Nikki Tibbles, with items donated by Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, David Gandy, Paris Hilton and other celebrities. All proceeds are donated to Nikki’s Wild at Heart Foundation, in support of welfare projects among the world's 600 million stray dogs.

International expansion

Xupes opens its first showroom outside the UK, Red Castle, in Amsterdam’s high-end Oud Zuid district, plus a pop-up in the flagship de Bijenkorf department store on Dam Square.

Moments in the spotlight

Xupes gains worldwide publicity with its most valuable sale to date - an exceptionally rare, original Paul Newman 'Lemon Dial' 18k Gold Rolex Daytona – and holds an exclusive sustainability event with fashion blogger Emma Hill in London.

Shop talk

Xupes opens its first UK store, adjacent to Hermès and Louis Vuitton in the City of London's Royal Exchange.

Jewels in the crown

Xupes presents a new collection of ethically-sourced gemstones created by renowned hair stylist and hair colour inventor David Jerome.

TV Doc
