The festive season is in full swing here at Xupes. We have been keeping a watchful eye on many of the brands we stock as they put their stamp on Christmas and New Year campaigns, our firm favourite has to be Gucci’s ‘The Party’. Set in a historic Italian ballroom filled with a flamboyant and boldly garish array of clashing colours and sparkles, a fantastic ‘kaleidoscope’ as Gucci have called it.
Gucci is well known for playful prints and textures and since 2015 when Alessandro Michele was appointed the creative director he has certainly been a man of vision, their brand image is one of the most recognizable in the industry. The quirky genius, who is a known lover of 70s Rock n Roll & 90s Hip Hop Culture, Michele has shared in interviews his Muse is Sir Elton John, which seems a wonderful fit when you consider how Gucci reaches such a wide audience of people from all cultural walks of life.
Gucci has an electric personality that cannot be ignored and there is an undeniable state of euphoria that sticks after watching the ad, with the 70’s disco diva theme in mind we have collated some of our show-stopping items for our festive trend edit.
Our pre-loved Gucci Lilith Top Handle Bag is a limited edition piece crafted with Blue Alligator Leather and snakeskin trim but the part that pulls it all together is the stunning hardware feature, a snake face with dazzling green embellishment for eyes. We paired this Lilith with a Sequin flare legged two-piece, there is something so nostalgic about sparkles around this time of year, although, it isn’t always easy to know how to accessorise an outfit that already makes heads turn.
We are following Gucci’s mantra, enough is never enough. To complete this look we have added our delicate Tiffany & Co platinum diamond Jazz T-Drop Design Necklace, this features 84 beautiful stones.
For this look, we have a black sequin tassel midi skirt and velvet bodysuit with statement shoulders which paired with gold accessories is a fabulously festive combination.
This features our Hard to Find Cartier Panthère Figurative Lakarda 18k Yellow Gold Watch. Since 1914 Cartier has used the Panthère wildcat in their creations, this particular edition has been discontinued. Made in 2000, the bracelet is set to a stiff curl, the green eyes are certified Emeralds and the black nose is made from Onyx.
A pre-loved Chanel Metallic Gold Wave Lizard Timeless Clutch was the perfect bag of choice for this outfit. Similarly to Gucci’s decision in October 2017 to ban fur we have just seen Chanel this month ban the use of exotic skins, items like this will now be even more difficult to obtain, and although the future is uncertain on these leathers we anticipate a price increase across the pre-owned market.
Red is the colour of Christmas, so here is our Hermès Geranium Shiny Mississippiensis Alligator Leather Constance Long Wallet, alongside the wallet is a 1940’s Vintage Rolex. The model is not known but features a white Arabic dial set on a Platinum Bracelet.
The last look for this edit is we used this stunning pre-owned Chanel Fuchsia Sequin Mini Flap Bag as a contrast to these darker colours in the dress, this charming mini bag can be worn with a two strap chain or one longer chain enabling the bag to be worn on the shoulder.
