We are proud to offer this very rare and unique Austrian Wiener Werkstätte 14k Yellow Gold Topaz, Diamond & Ruby Art Nouveau Pendant designed by Viennese born designer Anton Kling (1881-1963). The Wiener Werkstätte was a workshop founded in Vienna in 1903 and was probably one of the most important and inspirational art movements of the early 20th century. Under the directorship of Josef Hoffmann the workshop attracted many eminent artists and designs produced are today highly sought after and prized by collectors. This stunning pendant is set with approximately 1.80ct of round diamonds with two rubies and a stunning central Topaz bears the geometric designs so often attributed to Josef Hoffmann but by Anton Kling. Anton Kling was born in Vienna in 1881 and studied at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts as a graphic artist. He received recognition from Josef Hoffmann in his diploma, stating "his brilliant talent and resoucefulness in architectural design, as well as his taste and perception". He worked in his early days as a postcard designed for the Wiener Werkstatte before moving on to teach in Germany. In 1923 he moved to Pforzheim where he produced jewelry designs which were produced for the Wiener Werkstatte. This particular design is recorded in 'Jewelry of the 20's and 30's in Germany' by Christianne Weber (page 230) and was designed for the Wiener Werkstatte in 1923.
