Karl Lagerfeld, the artistic director of the House of Chanel since 1983, designs the two annual collections – Spring-Summer and Fall-Winter Haute Couture to showcase their collections and new season must haves. Each show captures global attention of millions and reveals that seasons colours, styles and materials, heavily dictating the trends which will then follow on the high-street.
This piece is from Chanel’s Fall 2014 collection, when Karl Lagerfeld paid homage to the art world by channelling pop artist Andy Warhol with his take on supermarket chic. The Grand Palais in Paris was re-decorated to resemble a very high-end supermarket, where models walked with shopping bags and trolleys. The bags themselves were an extension of this theme and exemplified Karl Lagerfeld’s humorous take on his extremely coveted designs. Some bags included 100% Agneau lambskin whilst others included bold graphic graffiti. Despite the collection being for Fall, the colours were bright and neon on the ready-to-wear tweed suits and accessories.
This Collector's Chanel pop art patchwork shearling flap bag features limited edition black patchwork with Chanel comic caption iconography (CHANEL, No5, CC logo) and multicolor accents of fuchsia, orange, blue and yellow shearling. The body of the bag consists of quilted black lambskin with a leather base and interior; silver tone hardware, front flap with CC turnlock closure, silver tone chain link and black leather adjustable shoulder straps. Worn by celebrities such as Rihanna and Iggy Azalea, this piece is a piece of fashion history and is extremely rare.
