Chanel is known for creating classic elegance. When the brand was first established by Coco Chanel in 1909, it brought a sleek, refined style, revolutionising fashion throughout France. Coco’s own style was always elegant yet comfortable and this carried through to the designs she created.
Karl Lagerfeld took over as the maison’s chief designer in 1983 and since then, Chanel have produced more creative pieces. These notable designs are exceedingly rare and difficult to find on the pre-owned market. They are known as Runway items, mainly found adorning the likes of Gigi Hadid and Kaia Gerber at the Grand Palais, officially manufactured in a limited supply after a collection is shown.

Originally intended as a Runway piece, this particular colour and material is seasonal and would have been made in limited numbers. Production of Runway pieces in the 1990s was limited to the hundreds. The Maxi Jumbo XL Flap Bag is also the largest size from the classic collection and is no longer in production at Chanel.
