Buying with Xupes

The details before you choose.

Are the Photographs of the Actual Piece?

Yes. Each piece is photographed individually, without retouching, so the images show the item you are considering. If you would like a closer look at a particular detail, use the Request More Images option on the product page or contact our team.

What Comes with My Purchase?

The Product Details section lists the accompaniments included with that particular piece. Boxes, dust bags, receipts and other paperwork vary, so please check the listing rather than assume they are included. We are happy to confirm any detail.

Which Payment Options Are Available?

The options available for your purchase are shown on the product page and at checkout. Availability can depend on the piece, order and payment provider. If you would like help choosing a payment method, contact our team before placing your order.

Can You Help with Jewellery Sizing or Ring Resizing?

Check the measurements and ring sizes on the product page. Where resizing is listed as possible, contact our team before purchasing to discuss the size you need, suitability, cost and timing. Please also ask how any requested alteration affects the return arrangements before agreeing to it.

Reserving a Piece

A little time to make your decision.

How Do I Reserve a Piece?

Where Reserve is available on a product page, select it and pay the £200 holding deposit at checkout. We then take the piece off sale and hold it exclusively for you for seven days.

Is the £200 Reservation Deposit Refundable?

Yes. The £200 holding deposit is fully refundable if you do not go ahead with the purchase. It gives you time to decide while the piece is reserved exclusively for you.

How Do I Complete My Purchase?

We will email you a payment link for the remaining balance. You can complete the purchase at any point during your seven-day reservation. If you need help with the link, contact our team with your Xupes reference.

What Happens If I Do Not Buy Within Seven Days?

If you do not complete the purchase within seven days, your £200 deposit is refunded in full and the piece returns to sale. If you have changed your mind before then, please let our team know.

Can I View a Piece During My Reservation?

You can request an in-person or virtual viewing during the reservation period. Please contact our team promptly to arrange a suitable appointment within your seven-day hold. Visits to the barn are by appointment only.

Can I Reserve a Piece for Longer Than Seven Days?

The standard reservation period is seven days. If you need more time, please speak with our team before the hold expires. A longer reservation is not automatic, so do not assume the piece will remain reserved beyond that period.

Authenticity

How we help you choose with confidence.

How Do You Authenticate Your Pieces?

Every piece is personally authenticated by our in-house specialists. Our five-point process examines technical details, craftsmanship, branding and provenance, followed by a final specialist review. Supporting technology is used for selected items. Explore our authentication process.

What Is the Authenticity Guarantee?

Every purchase is backed by our money-back authenticity guarantee. If you have a concern about a piece purchased from Xupes, contact us with your Xupes reference and the details so our team can assist. Read about our guarantee.

Does Every Piece Come with an Authenticity Card or Certificate?

Original cards, certificates and other paperwork are not available with every pre-loved piece. The listing states what is included. Please ask us about documentation for a specific item before purchasing; do not assume a separate certificate is included.

Can a Piece Be Authentic without Its Original Box or Receipt?

Yes. Original packaging and paperwork can add context, but they do not replace examination of the piece itself. Our specialists assess the item and its available provenance as part of the authentication process.

Is Xupes Affiliated with the Brands It Sells?

Xupes is an independent pre-loved luxury business. We are not affiliated with the brands we sell. Our own specialists authenticate and assess the pieces in our collection.

Understanding Condition

A closer look at our six condition ratings.

What Do Your Condition Ratings Mean?

Every piece is individually assessed. Our scale runs from Fair to Unworn and describes the level of wear you can expect.

Fair
Moderate to heavy signs of wear, usually consistent with its age.
Good
Gentle to moderate signs of wear, usually consistent with its age.
Very Good
Light to gentle signs of wear.
Excellent
Minimal to light signs of use.
Exceptional
No signs of wear and appears unused.
Unworn
No signs of use.
What Is the Difference Between Exceptional and Unworn?

Exceptional describes a piece with no signs of wear that appears unused. Unworn describes a piece with no signs of use. Read the rating alongside the actual photographs, condition notes and listed accompaniments; our specialists can explain the assessment of a particular piece.

Where Can I Find the Condition of a Particular Piece?

Look at the condition rating and the Condition section on its product page, alongside the photographs. This guide explains the scale; the product listing gives the assessment of the individual piece. If you would like a particular area checked, please contact our team.

Can I See More Photographs or Ask About Signs of Wear?

Yes. Use Request More Images on the product page, or contact our team with the Xupes reference and the details you would like to see. You can also arrange an in-person or virtual viewing before deciding.

Selling, Exchanging and Consigning

From a first valuation to your next chapter.

What Can I Sell with Xupes?

We consider luxury bags, jewellery and accessories from selected brands. The submission form lists the brands we currently accept. If your brand is not listed, we are not accepting it at present. Each piece is assessed individually for condition, authenticity and demand.

Do I Need a Receipt, Box or Other Accessories?

A purchase receipt is preferred for all pieces and required for jewellery. Original boxes, dust bags, carrier bags, authenticity cards and other accompaniments are optional, but can help resale value. Tell us exactly what you have when you submit your piece.

How Do I Get a Valuation, and How Long Is It Valid?

Please submit your piece with accurate details and clear photographs, including any wear or damage. Our team usually responds within 1–2 working days. Quotes are valid for seven days. The initial assessment is based on your submission; final terms follow receipt, inspection and authentication.

Should I Consign, Part-Exchange or Sell Outright?

Consignment typically provides the highest return, with payment after your piece sells. Part-exchange puts its agreed value towards another purchase and generally offers more than an outright sale. Outright purchase is available only for a very select range of items. We will explain the options available for your piece before you decide.

What Are the Consignment Fees?

There is no upfront consignment fee. Commission is deducted when your piece sells, and our fees depend on its listing price. Submit your piece for an assessment and we will explain the commission and the amount you would receive before you agree to proceed.

How Do I Send My Piece, and Is It Insured?

Please wait until we have reviewed your submission and agreed the next steps. You arrange shipping, and our team can advise on a suitable method; we do not provide shipping labels. Alternatively, bring your piece by appointment. It is fully insured while in our care; please arrange appropriate cover for your own shipment.

How Long Does Consignment Take, and Can I Withdraw My Piece?

Sale times vary with demand, condition and price. If a piece remains unsold after four months, we review the options with you. You can request the return of an unsold item; withdrawing it within its first four months of listing incurs a £100 plus VAT fee for administrative and postage costs. Explore the full selling process.

When Will I Receive Payment?

Consignment payment follows the sale rather than the initial listing. Part-exchange uses your agreed credit towards another piece. Where outright purchase is offered, payment is subject to receipt and verification. Our team will confirm the applicable payment terms and timing before you proceed.

Delivery and Collection

Timing, insurance and receiving your piece.

When Will My UK Order Arrive?

UK orders completed before 12pm on a working day qualify for next-working-day delivery. Orders completed after 12pm or at the weekend are dispatched on the next working day. If you need a particular delivery date, please speak with us before ordering. See our delivery and returns page for full details.

How Long Does International Delivery Take?

International delivery usually takes approximately 2–5 working days. This is an estimate: timing depends on the receiving location, customs clearance and any requirements applying to the item. Contact us before purchasing if you need to confirm availability or timing for your destination.

Will I Need to Pay Customs Charges?

International orders may attract import duties or taxes, depending on the receiving country. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility and are handled with the courier or relevant authority. They are separate from our complimentary delivery service. Further information is on our delivery and returns page.

Is Delivery Insured, and Will I Receive Tracking?

Delivery is complimentary and fully insured in the UK and internationally. Tracking is supplied on dispatch, and a signature is required on delivery. If you have a delivery concern, contact us with your order or Xupes reference.

Can I Collect My Order?

Yes, collection is available by appointment in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire. Please arrange it with our team before travelling, and bring photo ID and proof of purchase. Arrange an appointment.

Returns and Refunds

What to do if your piece is not quite right.

Can I Return or Exchange My Purchase?

We offer a 30-day return period from receipt, subject to our return conditions. Keep the piece in the condition received, with its accompanying items and security labels or ribbons intact. Please read our delivery and returns page before arranging a return.

How Do I Request a Return?

Email [email protected] with your Xupes reference and reason for return. Our team will provide a returns reference and explain the next steps. Please contact us before sending the item back.

Who Arranges Return Shipping?

You are responsible for arranging return shipping and for the piece while it is in transit. We recommend an insured service with suitable cover. Original import duties or taxes are not refunded by Xupes; contact the courier or relevant authority about any reclaim.

When Will My Refund Reach Me?

Our specialists inspect returned pieces before a refund is issued to the original payment method. We confirm the refund by email. Once processed, please allow five working days for the funds to appear in your account.

What If There Is a Problem with My Purchase?

Please contact us promptly with your Xupes reference, a description of the concern and photographs where helpful. Our team will advise on the next steps. If the issue concerns a fault, let us know so it can be assessed appropriately.
