Product Details
We offer this stunning and rare Aesthetic Movement Royal Worcester moon vase decorated in oriental style and attributed to Christopher Dresser dated 1878. This exceptional vase stands on a scroll work base imitating a wooden stand and is of flat rounded shape with a straight funnel shaped neck with moulded and shaped handles applied either side. The body of the vase is decorated with blue patterned roundels with a scroll set with bamboo to one side and hand painted with a gilded Chinoiserie landscape. Other Oriental objects are painted and highlighted in gilt around the body of the vase with gilding applied to the base and handles. Pseudo Chinese characters have been painted within one of the objects. The vase has an impressed and printed puce mark to the base for Royal Worcester along with a date letter N for 1878 which ties exactly with the time Christopher Dresser was providing designs to various of the British potteries.
