Offered here is a beautiful example of the much-sought-after ‘RACING DIAL’ 39MM AP Royal Oak.
It has been nearly 50 years since the creation of the original Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and this now iconic watch is more popular than ever. First unveiled by Audemars Piguet in the 1970s and designed by Gerald Genta who also designed the Patek Philippe Nautilus, the Royal Oak has become a distinctive classic with its distinctive features and its role as a pioneer for a luxury sports watch.
DESCRIPTION AND DETAILS
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph (ref. 26300ST.OO.1110ST.07) features the AP Caliber 2385 mechanical automatic movement with an approximately 40-hour power reserve; metallic blue dial with an engraved tapestry "waffle" design and silver-rimmed subdials; orange centre chronograph and subdial hands; small seconds subdial at 6 o'clock; date display; and 39mm, brushed stainless steel case on a brushed stainless steel bracelet with a push-button deployment clasp.
Considered to be the most perfectly sized and wearable AP chronograph, it is loyal to the original "Jumbo" diameter measuring 39MM. Audemars Piguet managed to accommodate one of the flattest self-winding chronograph calibres ever made in its time.
The example we have is part of the later series featuring a wider blue Tapisserie on the dial, which is known as the "Grande Tapisserie.” It also has the distinctive orange central seconds, sub-dial hands and perimeter minute counting tracks. This series also has the bracelet with the famous folding clasp signed "AP".
The overall condition of this example of the Royal Oak ‘Chronograph Racing dial’ is excellent and has been treasured by its previous owner. The Tapisserie blue dial and white baton markers and orange hands are all in stunning condition. The stainless-steel bracelet is in good tight condition with minimal stretch and free from any significant scratches and wear.
The stainless-steel polished and brushed bezel ring and sapphire glass are free of any dings or marks and further enhance the overall appearance of this stunning 39mm Royal Oak.
This stunning Royal Oak ‘Racing Dial’ is accompanied by its original inner and outer boxes, booklet, and certificate D’Authenticite.
