Rolex Daytona “Patrizzi Dial” Chronograph Stainless Steel – Reference 16520 With Zenith Movement.
Offered here is a beautiful example of the Rolex Daytona reference 16520, with the rare ‘Patrizzi Dial’ manufactured circa 1996.
This rare Rolex Cosmograph Daytona with the "Patrizzi" dial (ref. 16520 - Cal. 4030) features the famous brown discolouration of the sub-chapter rings, named after the Italian collector, Osvaldo Patrizzi.
The “Patrizzi” name refers specifically to the discoloration of the sub-dial rings, because of an organic varnish that allowed the silver elements of the dial to oxidize over time. This is seen as a manufacturing error by Rolex at the time, making Patrizzi Daytona’s highly collectible today.
The 16520 reference and particularly with the “Patrizzi” Dial in the vintage Daytona line up have soared in popularity over the last decade and have become increasingly coveted by all serious collectors.
The overall condition of this vintage Daytona is very good. The case does not show signs of over polishing, with the lugs all being equal along with the top edges brushed finish well defined. The “Patrizzi” dial is correct for its T878--- serial number range and is in good condition with no apparent flaws, the tritium lume is still present and remains consistent in colour to the dial hour markers and hands, though the tritium no longer glows. The bezels MKIII stainless steel ring is in very good condition, with no dings or scratches along with the engraving for the black writing and numbers still very clear and sharp.
The watch comes on the correct reference 503 end links and 78360 bracelet that is in very good condition. The bracelet is showing only minimal stretch and wear.
This stunning Daytona is accompanied with its original Rolex box.
