Offered here is a stunning example of the much-appreciated ‘Boutique only edition’ 18k yellow gold 39mm AP Royal Oak from circa 2016. This 39mm automatic Royal Oak has a date display at 3 o’clock.
It has been nearly 50 years since the creation of the original Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and this now iconic watch is more popular than ever. First unveiled by Audemars Piguet in the 1970s and designed by Gerald Genta who also designed the Patek Philippe Nautilus, the Royal Oak has become a classic with its distinctive features and its role as a pioneer for a luxury sports watch.
Mechanically the Royal Oak Extra-Thin is almost identical to the 1972 original, with the same calibre 2121 that was originally developed by Jaeger-LeCoultre as the calibre 920. A sophisticated and slim movement that’s withstood the test of time, the calibre 2121 has been slightly upgraded over the years, improving its robustness and reliability.
This ‘Boutique only edition’ 18k yellow gold example of the Royal Oak is in practically unworn condition and appears to have been adored by its previous owner. The Tapisserie Champagne dial is stunning, and the gold gilt baton markers and matching hands are flawless. The bracelet is in excellent good tight condition and free from any scratches and showing minimal wear. The yellow gold polished bezel ring and sapphire glass are free of any marks and enhance the overall appearance of this beautiful 39mm Royal Oak.
