Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 18k Yellow Gold and Stainless-Steel Day-Date Moonphase Reference 25594SA
Offered here is a beautiful example of the much appreciated two tone 36mm AP Royal Oak, Circa 1990’s. The reference 25594SA has 3 subsidiary dials at 3 and 9 for the date and day of the week, the aperture at 6 is for the moon phase.
It has been nearly 50 years since the creation of the original Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and this now iconic watch is more popular than ever. First unveiled by Audemars Piguet in the 1970s and designed by Gerald Genta, who also designed the Patek Philippe Nautilus, the Royal Oak has become a classic with its distinctive features and its role as a pioneer for a luxury sports watch.
The reference number 25594SA indicates the watch is made from stainless steel and 18k yellow gold. This specific Royal Oak has a silver Tapisserie dial, with displays windows indicating the date on the 3 o’clock position, the day on the 9 o’clock position and the phase of the moon on the 6 o’clock position.
This stunning Royal Oak has 18k yellow-gold hour markers along with 18k yellow-gold hands with luminescent inserts. The case is 36mm and slightly thicker than the standard Royal Oak (9mm), which makes it a very well-proportioned watch and provides terrific wrist presence. The reference 25594SA also has the excellent 2124 movement based on a Jaeger-Lecoultre calibre.
The overall condition of this example of the Royal Oak 25594SA is very good and has been treasured by its previous owner. The Tapisserie silver dial, gold baton markers and hands are all in stunning condition. The Bi-metal bracelet is in good tight condition with minimal stretch and free from any significant scratches and wear. The 18k yellow gold polished bezel ring and sapphire crystal are free of any dings or scratches and further enhance the overall appearance of this stunning 36mm Royal Oak.
