Offered here is a stunning example of the rare Military matte dial, large triangle Seamaster reference 165.024 that was manufactured circa 1967. This piece has the added bonus of having the Extract From The Archives confirming its British Military provenance dating back to Wednesday 29th March 1967.
The example we have here has the correct dial for its movement serial number range, being a Pre -T – stamped dial (indicating its Tritium plots & hands dial). These military large triangle Seamasters are highly sought after in vintage collecting especially with Omega collectors. The reference 165.024 was first introduced in 1962. They were commissioned by the British armed forces due to their proven robustness & easy legibility.
The condition of this vintage Seamaster is good. The case has been very lightly polished in the past, but still retains strong equal lugs along with the brushed finish to the top edges finely defined. The British Military engravings to the case back are all legible & correspond to the archives extract. The bezel has no dings or scratches & rotates properly when used with its correct Bakelite insert. The matte dial has taken on a slightly faded appearance, with the tritium hour plot markers & hands showing a rich darkening in colour that only enhancing the overall appearance of this vintage piece.
