Carrera Chronograph Stainless Steel - 3147 N

The Carrera collection can happily be boasted as Heuer’s best chronograph legacy and longest standing reference series. The Carrera was released in 1963 with the first editions of the reference 2447, and they are still producing Carreras today.

Since Jack Heuer joined his grandfather’s company in 1962 he was determined to produce his own in-house chronograph movement, and the Carrera was the second watch ever to be given a name rather than just a number, the first being the Autavia in 1962.

This 35mm case size example is a first execution Carrera reference 3147N which was a 1966 production. It’s more accurately named the as a 3147N 12 Dato 45 denoting the date window at 12 O’clock.

This attractive two-register chronograph arrangement contrasts nicely with the lighter minute track on the inner bezel, which has adopted a beige patina with age on the underlying steel.

The white hands have been replaced for brass at some stage during service in the past few decades and the case has seen some natural wear and tear and repolishing, but generally is in fine condition. The movement is in excellent condition and is a Landeron calibre 189 manual winding movement and the case back is stamped Heuer-Leonidas.

The watch comes on a stainless steel inox sprung bracelet, in a Xupes presentation box.
