"This elegant design piece from Patek Philippe is a simple rarity. The time only function and matte silver dial with gold applied hour markers is a perfect fit for a dainty and small case such as this.
As a ladies jewellery piece from the mid 1950s this watch signifies a post war era of fabulous design ideas and applications where perhaps the bracelets were manufactured by third party jewellery makers for timepieces of this kind.
The solid gold coffee bean-like links, each almost the size of the watch head, balance the piece well and have a nicely rounded tactile finish. A hand finished button clasp seals the bracelet, concealed in yet another coffee bean link.
The manual wind movement, is stamped and numbered 942***. It is serviced and in good working order. The caseback is stamped 643035.
The dial has Patek Philippe Geneve painted in black above the gold stick hands. A brilliant feature of this dial are the 12, 3, 6 and 9 numerals, whereby the 6 and 9 are “open” - this was a popularised style later in the century and was vigorously adopted by brands like Panerai, but is rarely seen in ladies watches of this era."
