The Rolex GMT Master 1675 Pepsi was only produced for a short amount of time with a small GMT hand as we see here, mostly in the 1960s. The entire run of the 1675 lasted 21 years from 1959 to 1980, so there are plenty of models around with small GMT hands still available, but rarely from the 1960s.
This piece contains the Rolex calibre 1560 movement and has a caseback stamped II.61, indicating a production model from the second quarter of 1961. The combination of the small GMT hand, movement calibre and production year make this piece particularly rare, as this is a transitional model just before the larger GMT hand was introduced along with the subsequent calibre 1570/5.
This 40mm stainless steel piece comes without original box and papers as is the case with many of this age, but its condition is excellent. The bezel has seen some discolouration and there are some marks to the caseback and lugs. The Swiss only gloss dial with gilt writing is in good condition and hour markers in tact with depleted lume spots. The six o’clock marker also features a rare “exclamation point” feature in the existence of a round lume plot located directly under this marker resembling the look of an exclamation mark. The square crown guard is also a nice feature differing from the more common rounded, or sought after pointy.
The watch comes on a brown calves leather strap.
