"Cartier is respected for extravagant and impressive jewellery manufacturing. Unlike other watch brands they historically have had more confidence to experiment with cases and hard-wearing exterior watch parts such as crowns, bezels and case backs. This is down the resource and machinery that most other watch brands simply do not have the ability to invest in. Cartier’s history in this level of manufacturing goes back to their conception in 1847.
This Cartier Ceinture from the 1970s has a 27mm diameter octagonal case with a step design and an enclosed crown protected by the outer case bezel. The restored white dial has the classic Cartier black roman numerals and blue sword hands.
This case design is eponymous of Cartier manufacturing as it is far from a standard watch design. It has an unusual screw-shut case back whereby the entire watch is held together by four screws running horizontally into the watch through the gold bezel, sealing similarly to that of a clamshell case design.
The Yellow Gold case comes with a black leather strap and rose gold deployment clasp. The clasp is stamped with serial 24303 and would be a later addition as this watch would most likely have been sold originally on a pin buckle.
The case back is stamped with number 028346 and the watch contains a manual wind 17 Jewel signed movement."
