When Raymond Weil passed away in 2014, his company was handed down to his son-in-law and two grandsons. Today, Raymond Weil Genève is one of the last remaining independent Swiss-watch makers. Despite being set up in 1976 during the low point of the “Quartz crisis”, Raymond Weil Genève insisted on producing Swiss-made watches only. The brand was one of the front-runners in the re-imaging of the Swiss watch industry, and slowly established itself as a leader in the international market. Usually associated with the arts and in particular with classical music, Raymond Weil produces mostly entry-level watches with a reserved elegance.
