Within our countryside headquarters our team of experienced watchmakers are passionate about their craft and ensure every watch receives the care and attention it deserves. From a battery replacement to repairing a damaged timepiece, we are here to guide you through all your servicing requirements and keep your watch functioning as it should for generations to come. All of our services are completed by our team of accredited, skilled watchmakers using manufacturer-approved tools. As testament to our high level of work, we provide 24-months warranty on all servicing and repairs. Our team are dedicated to giving the fastest turnaround possible: we will always provide a full estimate, depending on the level of work required and availability of parts, before we commence any work. Watch Servicing

Mechanical watches are made up of hundreds of constantly moving small parts. Because of this continual movement, the parts are subject to wear and tear. Inside your timepiece the lubricants that prevent friction and possible damage to delicate inner components will deteriorate over time and need replacing. Even if your watch still seems to be in perfect working order, our experts recommend that your watch is serviced at regular intervals to ensure accurate timekeeping and prevent serious damage to the movement. Intervals are brand specific, but these are typically between every 5 to 10 years. Whilst your watch is with the team at Xupes, it will be completely dismantled, cleaned, re-lubricated, sealed and tested, all in line with our strict standards, alongside those of the manufacturer's. Our experts will be happy to discuss your servicing requirements and provide you with the best options for your watch.

Repairs & Restoration

We know that no matter how careful you are with your watch, accidents do happen. Fortunately, our expert team are on hand and there are very few repairs that they cannot undertake. With a wealth of experience, our team are trained to look at watches of any age, regardless of brand and will do everything they can to help return your watch to its best possible condition. In our dedicated polishing rooms our experts use the latest equipment, refurbishing all areas of the case and re-applying factory finishes where possible. Battery Change

The battery on your watch could run out at any time. If your watch is battery-powered, our watchmakers advise that you replace the battery every 12 to 24 months. Whilst with us your watch will be opened, the cell removed and the movement checked for any leakage or damage. We will examine the general condition of the movement and check the consumption rate of the new battery. Before returning your watch to you, it will be cleaned and resealed to ensure water resistance in line with manufacturer’s specifications and placed on a final 48-hour time test to ensure accurate timekeeping. We offer a 12-month guarantee on your replacement battery as long as the watch has been maintained to the manufacturer's guidelines and serviced within the last three to five years. The Process

  1. Complete the enquiry form below with as much detail as possible or speak directly to a member of our servicing team directly by email or telephone.
  2. On receipt of your enquiry a member of the servicing team will be in touch to discuss your requirements further. An initial estimation of work needed and cost will be provided at this stage.
  3. You will then be required to post us your watch using one of our approved, insured delivery services. You can also drop in your watch to our countryside headquarters.
  4. When we receive your watch, initial inspection is carried out and we will provide a more in depth estimation for the required work to be completed on your timepiece. With your consent, works will then commence in our manufacturer accredited in-house centre.
  5. On completion, we will invoice all works undertaken and upon payment return your transformed timepiece to you as required.

James Taylor


James is responsible for restoring almost all of the pre-owned watches we sell, back to a factory finish, ensuring they look good enough to be worn by their next owner. James joined the Xupes team in 2017 and prior to working here, he polished and shaped the steel parts on luxury yachts. Despite working on much smaller objects now, James loves nothing more than taking a watch in well worn condition and returning it to near new. In his spare time he enjoys playing pool and brewing his own beer.

Chris Sculfor

Trainee Technician

Chris is part of the service team and is currently training as a watch technician. His role involves learning about the intricacies of mechanical watches as well as the techniques used to repair and restore them. He joined Xupes in late 2018 and previously worked as a joiner after leaving school. Chris has a fascination with the way things work and enjoys learning as much as he can about the varied watch brands and models that pass through the Xupes service centre.
