Offered here is a beautiful example of the Rolex Daytona 116520 with the rare Black APH Error Dial manufactured circa 2011.

As all Rolex collectors know the most iconic vintage Rolex Daytona’s incorporated movements sourced from other suppliers, the Reference 116520 not only marked the first in-house automatic chronograph movement for the Daytona, but the first in-house chronograph movement ever produced solely by Rolex. Visually the base model 116520 is nearly identical to its predecessor, the so-called “Zenith Daytona” models from the 1990’s. This extended the life cycle of the style, which later evolved to the current ceramic “C-Daytona” models currently being offered.

This example, whilst excellent in condition to begin with, is differentiated even further still by a small yet significant detail on the dial. Nicknamed the 'APH' dial for a small spacing error in the word COSMOGR APH, and only appearing in a small serial range, these have become highly sought after by Rolex collectors.

Technical Details:
Featuring a black dial with three sub-dials, fixed engraved tachymeter steel bezel, luminous hour markers, bright red "DAYTONA" detailing, the watch is fitted with a stainless-steel Oyster link bracelet with folding clasp. Waterproof to 100m, the watch is powered by a chronometer rated automatic movement.

It is also important to note that there are significantly less APH dials manufactured with black dials than there are with white dials.

The overall condition of this Daytona is excellent. The case does not show any signs of polishing, with the lugs all being equal along with the top edges brushed finish well defined. The dial is in superb condition with no flaws, the lume is clear/sharp and consistent in colour to the dial hour markers and hands. The bezels stainless steel counting ring is in excellent condition, with no dings or scratches along with the engraving for the black writing and numbers being very clear and sharp.

The watch comes on the correct reference bracelet that is in very good condition and showing only minimal stretch and wear.

It also comes as a full set with all its original accessories that include box, manuals, manual, hang tags, card holder, original sales receipt and Rolex guarantee dated 27th March 2011.
