Brand HistoryBulgari, often written “Bvlgari” in reference to its Latin roots, is the biggest name in Italian luxury jewellery. It was established in 1884 and by the 1960s, during the Dolce Vita years, Bulgari jewellery was decorating some of the most elegant women in the world, including Elizabeth Taylor, Ingrid Bergman and Sofia Loren. Since then Bulgari has become a household name creating many iconic pieces with bold designs, often based on Roman architectural structures. Popular pieces include the Monete collection, based on the Roman coin, or the more recent BZero1, which takes its lines from the Colosseum. Vintage collections such as the snake-like Serpenti watches pull big figures at auction and indeed all pre-owned Bulgari jewellery is highly sought-after.
