A very large, hand-knotted Persian rug originating from North West Persia, specifically the region of Tabriz. The rug measures 4.06m x 4.06m overall, it would have been an engineering feat to create the loom alone due to the round shape, size and therefore weight of this rug so this example really is exceptional and the rug still retains original fringing around the periphery. The eye is quickly drawn to the impressive central medallion, due to its contrasting ivory centre and nearly black outer rosette design. The base colour of the rug is a very deep maroon making the overall feel of this rug luxurious and giving great depth. The all-over design is formed from flora, fauna, palmettes and intertwining vines and is depicted in rich almost peacock-like colours of different blues and greens with ivory used as a highlight. The main border is again almost black and the all-over design features more pink, maroon, blue and greens. Tabriz rugs can be set apart from other Persian rugs due to their quality but also the vast array of colours used. All of the photographs are taken by our in-house photographer and are an accurate representation of the item. Please bear in mind the colours can appear different from opposing ends depending on the direction of the pile. We offer the service of viewing any of these rugs on an appointment only basis at our London (N1) warehouse and are happy to answer any further queries you may have prior to purchase.
