A luxurious, hand-knotted rug originating from central Persia, specifically the region of Kerman. This super fine wool rug measures 2.95m x 2.03m and retains original fringing. A signature by master weaver 'Faraji' can be found within the guard border. Faraji is considered to be a top master weaver within the region of Tabriz. This example features a central medallion of a rosette design within a number of intricate borders. The main field of the rug is a pale beige bordered within blues and reds. The main motives of the rug are flora and fauna design with palms and vines. The detailed corner designs overlap the borders, merging patterns and colours. The rug is a superb example and is an eye-catching interior piece. With regards to its origin, the people of Sherkat were worried about the quality of rugs being produced in the 50's and begun using their own weavers and also Kurk wool (this is sheared from the belly of the lamb and is incredibly soft). Many of the rugs woven were based on older and more classic designs. All of the photographs are taken by our in-house photographer and are an accurate representation of the item. Please bear in mind the colours can appear different from opposing ends depending on the direction of the pile. We offer the service of viewing any of these rugs on an appointment only basis at our London (N1) warehouse and are happy to answer any further queries you may have prior to purchase.
