VINTAGE MOHAMMEDI SILK QUM MEDALLION PERSIAN RUG

An exceptional pure silk hand-knotted rug originating from central Persia, specifically the Qum region and woven by master weaver Mohammedi. This rug measures 2.4m x 1.65m and encompasses a large central medallion design. The rug is very opulent in design and unusual in colour, predominantly black, deep red and a yellow-gold, these colours lend themselves to themes of power, wealth and courage and would make this rug a real talking point within any interior environment. The signature of master weaver Mohammedi can be found in the outer black guard border and the rug features original fringing in a deep yellow-gold-tone. The high percentage of silk within this design means that the rug has a lustre which can be picked up from different angles when walking around the rug, highlighting the intricacy of the design and adding depth. Rugs from the Qum region are renown for their high quality, richness and density which is attributed to their high knot density when weaved.
