Product Details

  • A stunning and rare French art pottery vase by Émile Gallé (1846-1904). The large bulbous earthenware vase is decorated with a semi naked figure of Clytemnestra leaning on a sword to one side and the Croix de Lorraine (Cross of Lorraine) to the opposite side set with swirled incised designs picked out in coloured glazes on a brown glazed ground. The vase is highlighted with gold leaf with mottled glazes to the inside body. The vase has incised signature marks and retains an original printed paper label. It has been suggested that this is a one off exhibition piece and regardless it is a stunning and rare example of this highly sought after artists work.
