  • We offer this stunning pair antique Japanese Meiji Arita moon shaped vases mounted with mythical animals on the shoulders and painted with landscape and floral panels dating between 1868 and 1912. These large porcelain vases stand on oval unglazed feet with a recessed base and of rounded slight heart shaped flat bodies with a short narrow trumpet shaped top. The body of the vases are hand decorated with landscapes with mountains and buildings to one side with a floral landscape with birds to the opposite side. These are contained within a surround of floral decorations applied on a decorative blue ground with a green and black pattern around the foot and floral design on a blue ground around the neck. Both vases have small mythical animals painted in green, yellow and black lying on either side of the shoulder. The vases have red Arita marks to the base.
