  • We offer this rare and stunning antique Mauchline ware cartoon book titled SCENES FROM LIFE AT THE SEASIDE and containing 12 printed seaside cartoons with a similar cartoon applied to the front cover dating from around 1879. The book has a lacquered front and back cover with a cartoon to the front cover with title beneath and with a coloured floral border. The inside contains a fold out cartoons all associated to life at the seaside and titled A BARGAIN; CAUGHT BY THE TIDE; WHERE IGNORANCE IS BLISS; DELIGHFUL!; A RAW MORNING; COME, AND SEE ME JUMP; A PLEASURE TRIP; A SOU'WESTER; AN UGLY INTRUDER; THIS STYLE FOR SIXPENCE; SENSATIONAL NEWS and THE SEASIDE DERBY (also repeated on the front cover. Each catoon is signed Copyright O.P. and dated June 5th 1879.
