Product Details

  • Originating from an extensive local private collection we offer this exceptional and rare Arts & Crafts Charles Brannam handled vase with sgraffito fish designs by Frederick Braddon and dated 1898. This stylish earthenware vase stands on a flat rounded base with a rounded bulbous body with a wide funnel neck and everted rim. Loop handles are applied to either side of the body with looped clay applications to either side of the neck. The body of the vase is decorated with panels with sgraffito design fish set on a textured ground to either side with scroll panels above with raised pip designs. The vase is painted in blue, green and brown on a pale yellow ground with brown handles and applications. The inner vase is decorated in yellow and the vase has an incised CH Brannam Barum mark along with an FB monogram for Frederick Braddon. The vase is also dated 1898. Condition The vase is offered in fine presentable condition without restoration. There is a small glaze rub to the edge of one of the applications however this certainly does not detract. A stunning and rare example and a wonderful addition to any serious collection!
