  • Originating from a local private art pottery collection we are pleased to offer this large and rare antique Charles Brannam art pottery three handled vase decorated in relief applied sgraffito floral designs by James Dewdney and dated 1895. This large earthenware vase stands on a narrow flat rounded base with a rounded bulbous body, narrow neck and slightly everted top rim applied with three scrolling handles. The vase is decorated in low relief with a sgraffito floral design of various flowering shrubs on a textured yellow and brown spatter ground and set against brown glazes top and bottom. The floral designs are painted in orange, blue, yellow and brown glazes. The base of the vase has incised Ch Brannam Barum marks along with an JD monogram for James Dewdney and is dated 1895.
