  • We offer this rare Scottish Wemyss Langtoun ware lidded jar decorated with stylized designs and dated 4th July 1927. This unusual shaped lidded earthenware jar was produced at a time when Wemyss was trying to find designs which complimented the period and change in taste. The conical shaped jar stands on a wide rounded foot with a recessed base with a relief moulded collar around the body and is fitted with a domed lid with a central finial. The jar is hand painted with stylized designs which has been repeated to the lid. The jar has impressed WEMYSS marks to the base and lid and also has various painted marks including M.S.S.F. to the base along with the date 4-7-27.
