We offer this fine pair antique Japanese Meiji Satsuma twin handled vases decorated with a dragon curled between twelve Immortals and dating between 1868 and 1912. This well decorated pair of earthenware vases stand on narrow rounded feet with recessed bases and are of rounded baluster shape. The bodies graduate to a narrow rounded neck with a flat edged trumpet shaped top. The vase has moulded Fo dog heads holding rings as handles to either side and is hand decorated with a white stipple work dragon scrolling amidst twelve finely painted Immortals painted in various colours with the usual heavy gilding customary to Satsuma pieces. Both vases have Satsuma marks to the base along with an original paper label. Condition The vases are offered in good presentable condition with a small professional repair to the top edge of one and a couple of small under rim chips to the same vase. These do not detract and this is a fine pair of vases for the discerning collector!
