Product Details

  • Originating from an extensive private art pottery collection we offer this large rare antique English art pottery jug designed by Charles Brannam and decorated with an exquisite floral and leaf sgraffito style design dated 1881. This finely made early earthenware jug is of rounded shape with a narrow top with pinched spout and loop handle to the side. The body of the jug is decorated in low relief with large incised daisy like blooms set with a leaf design running around the body of the jug with a petal design around the foot and top rim of the jug. The designs on the jug are hand painted in an olive brown colour with the floral pattern painted against a textured blue ground. The jug has an incised CH Brannam, Barum, N Devon mark to the base and is dated 1881.
