Product Details

  • Originating from an extensive private art pottery collection we offer this large rare antique English art pottery vase designed by James Dewdney with floral and bird panels for Charles Brannam and dated 1887. This unusual shaped earthenware vase has a rounded bulbous body with a narrow rounded foot and with a tall funnel shaped neck with an everted top. The body of the vase is decorated with three large sgraffito style floral panels on a rough cast ground and set between smaller panels incised with various garden birds. The neck has tall gothic shaped arches and the whole vase is painted in tones of brown, blue and cream. The vase has incised signature marks for CH Brannam Barum to the base along with incised initials JD for James Dewdney and is also dated 1887.
