Product Details

  • We offer this rare and exceptional antique Chinese gold mounted carved ivory brooch with a hand carved figural scene in deep relief dating from the latter 19th century. This incredible quality brooch has a carved family scene (possibly a court scene) with a man and woman dining with attendants in waiting and children playing nearby. The scene is set outside a pagoda style building set amidst trees with the deeply and finely carved scene showing even more detail in the background when held to the light. The carving is mounted in a fine high quality solid gold mounted with a fine filigree finish and with a swivel pin attached to the back along with a separate safety chain. The gold mount has an impressed two character makers mark to the back and is presented in its original hard wood box with silk lining and with a carved figural scene to the lid. The box has Chinese markings to the base.
