  • We offer this superb antique Chinese beaker shaped cup and saucer hand decorated with panels containing flowers and birds flying over waves dating from the Kangxi reign 1662 to 1722. The saucer is decorated centrally with flowering stems emerging from a rockwork base with a flying insect with floral panels and a singled panel with a flowering hawthorn tree. The saucer has a shaped rim with small bats painted around the edge. It has a relief moulded design to the underside with finely painted floral sprigs and has a four character Kangxi mark to the base. The beaker shaped cup stands on a narrow rounded foot and is decorated with four panels, two containing tall flowering stems in vases and two with two birds flying over waves. The panels are shaped in the form of Chinese vases and set with decorative borders to either side. The cup has a fluted moulding to the body with shaping to the slightly everted rim and is also painted to the inside rim and inside base. The cup has a small mark within a double circle to the base.
