  • We offer this superb antique Chinese pistol grip side handled lidded chocolate pot finely decorated with figures in the famille rose Mandarin palette and dating from the Qianlong reign 1736-95. The cylindrical shaped pot stands on a rounded unglazed foot with a slightly recessed base with a narrower unglazed top rim with rounded shoulders and with a domed overlapping cover with a peach finial. The pot has a side mounted pistol grip handle with a moulded spout to the side. The body of the pot is finely painted in the famille rose Mandarin pattern with figures on garden terraces next to a lake on a Y-pattern ground with various sized decorative and figural painted panels around the body. The cover is similarly painted with decorative applications to the handle and spout. The chocolate pot is highlighted with gilding and the pot is not marked.
