Product Details

  • We are delighted to offer this rare and elaborately carved horn, carved with figures and believed to originate from the Vili or Loango tribe from the Congo River Basin in Africa and dating from the mid to late nineteenth century. The horn is carved in deep relief with a continuous band of figures in various activities. Most wear traditional tribal clothing and carry foodstuffs or other goods, while others wear more Western style clothes. The carving is of superb quality and is a wonderful representation of tribal artistic perceptions of this period. The horn is not marked. CITES certificate can be provided for export outside Europe.
