  • We are delighted to offer this superb antique Chinese Kangxi mark porcelain vase or ginger jar painted with birds and butterflies amidst flowering stems and believed to date from the 18th century and possibly a Kangxi period example. The rounded bulbous jar/vase stands on a narrow rounded and unglazed foot and has a short raised and glazed neck. The body of the vase is decorated in underglaze blue with two birds set within a continuous landscape with flowering prunus and other shrubs. Both birds are focusing on a butterfly which is trying to land on an open flower. The vase has an angle cut unglazed foot and has a finely painted underglaze four character Kangxi mark to the base of the vase.
