  • Originating from an extensive private collection we are delighted to offer this rare and stunning antique carved ivory figure of a doll maker on a fitted wooden stand dating from the Meiji period 1868 to 1912. The figure is exceptionally well carved and portrays the seated doll maker surrounded by his tools and various dolls he has carved with a further one on which he is working. The ivory figure has a red lacquered lozenge inset to the base bearing the artists signature.
