  • We are pleased to offer this rare and unique art pottery Jug made for W Bear of Little Lodge Farm, Castle Hedingham and made at the Castle Hedingham pottery by Edward Bingham dated 1883. This rounded bulbous earthenware jug has a funnel shaped neck with a shaped pouring spout and with a decorated handle attached to the side. The carved head of a bull is applied below the spout and decorative panels have been arranged around the body of the jug containing various script with incised patterns arranged around the surrounding area. The panels contain religious scripture from the book of Genesis; the name LITTLE LODGE FARM; the date 1883; CASTLE HEDINGHAM and W. BEAR HIS JUG 1883. The jug is finished in brown glazes and is signed to the base E Bingham Potter C Hedm.
