  • Condition The warming dish is offered in fine overall condition without loss or restoration. • On offer is this exceptional and scarce antique Chinese porcelain silver mounted twin handled hollowed out warming dish dating, we believe, from the 18th century. The dish is of rounded shape with attached swivel silver handles to either side. The dish is decorated with a typical underglaze blue Chinese water garden scene with pagodas and boats within a formal floral and scroll border. Further simple floral designs are painted around the outer edge of the dish. To one side the dish has a small removable silver mounted stopper to allow the dish to be filled with hot water. The dish has an unglazed rim around the underside with a rounded glazed base and would probably have stood on a stand with heat applied to the base. The dish is not marked although the handles have impressed initials RW.
