Product Details

  • We offer this stunning art pottery vase dating from the Arts & Crafts period painted with flowering stems and grasses by Arthur Pascal Shorter and dating between 1879 and 1889. This tall elegantly shaped baluster vase was probably designed by Christopher Dresser as it is of typical of the shapes designed by him for Linthorpe and stands on a narrow rounded foot with a bowl shaped top with a fluted rim. The body of the vase has been finely decorated in brown treacle coloured glazes with a lighter thick glaze applied over a contrasting painted decoration which continues around the body of the vase. The vase has an impressed LINTHORPE mark to the base along with the number 2193 and also has an incised monogram AS FOR Arthur Pascal Shorter.
