  • Condition The bowl is offered with a small broken section reattached to one side although otherwise the bowl is without damage. There is some white pitting to the decoration in the base of the bowl where the small defects in the porcelain have possibly prevented the coloured glazes from taking. An unusual and interesting bowl worthy of restoration.   View More Details

  • We have been instructed in the sale of an extensive and choice single owner Oriental collection amassed over many decades and amounting to over 1,000 items spanning the Dynasties with many rare, unusual and interesting pieces. The collection is to be offered without reserve. We offer this unusual antique Chinese porcelain dish finely painted with an interesting landscape and with a Qianlong seal mark to the base. The dish, which is best described as bath shaped, has a slightly narrowing middle and is decorated in underglaze blue with a village scene set within a watery landscape with figures and cattle with the scene extending around the sides of the dish. Further elements are also applied around the outside edges of the bowl. The dish has an unglazed base with a central glazed recess marked with an underglaze blue qianlong seal mark. Our research has not found anything similar to this piece making it a difficult piece to date and therefore we err on the side of caution and suggest 19/20th century. Nonetheless a very interesting piece!
