Product Details

  • From the collection of the late Mrs Joan Day (Joan Spence) and exported by her in 1941 when forced to leave Japan following the outbreak of war. We offer this fine antique Japanese porcelain Arita Ikebana boat shaped vessel painted in blue and white with fish and waves and dating from the 19th Century. This unusual and interesting piece is of traditional boat shape with fish painted to the inside base and with waves splashing to the sides. A patterned decoration containing a dragon is painted to the front and back top edges. The boat is typically not marked. The boat is one of several choice examples we are offering from the same private collection (collection labels attached to the base) and is fresh to the market.
