  • During the 19th/20th century, the American Government sent out Campaign Artists to study the newly founded 'reservations' that had been created for Native American people. These drawings were believed to occasionally be made instead of photos as to reduce cost. The studies were made for many reasons historically, including the Western expansion of America. This drawing is of a group of Native Americans in their settlement, with a man seemingly in American period dress and children and women wrapped in fabric sitting on the ground in front of Tipis and a horse to the right portion. This is a fantastic example of the skills of the Campaign Artists that were sent to these reservations to document and is a rare piece to add to a collection.
