  • Polish born artist Jan le Witt began his career as a freelance artist in Poland in 1927, until later moving to London 10 years on in 1937. Ina Cafe in Warsaw 1933, Jan Le Witt me the fellow Polish artist George HIm. This meeting later turned into a partnership in London after the outbreak of the Second World War as they became LeWitt & Him. The pair designed posters for the Ministry of Information and in 1942, focused mainly on illustrations for children's book. After WWII, LeWitt & Him's designs were used for the Festival of Britain in 1951 and their work was internationally exhibited in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, New York and Philidelphia. The screen print is a fine example of Le Witt's talent's in graphic design that were instrumental to the partnership and shows an abstract scene of block colours and compositional forms.
