We offer this rare antique Joseph Holdcroft majolica teapot modeled as a Chinaman on a melon dating from around 1870. This very finely made earthenware teapot portrays a Chinaman, his head forming the cover, climbing on a melon. The spout forms the stalk while the handle is modeled as a twig. The body of the teapot is painted in yellow, green and blue with some natural glazed features to the boy. The teapot is not marked but is a well recorded design by Joseph Holdcroft.
