We are delighted to offer this superb and rare antique Chinese lidded jug decorated in the Meissen style and possibly dating from the latter 17th but more likely the early 18th century. This finely made porcelain teapot is of tall bulbous shape with a moulded scroll handle and a crimped edge beak spout. A domed lid with an ornate finial sits on top. The body of the jug and lid is moulded in relief with fine floral designs with panels to either side superbly hand painted in Meissen style with insects and floral designs. Underglazed blue designs are applied around the top rim and to the rim of the lid with a further design applied to the handle. The jug is typically not marked but is a rare and stunning example to add to any serious collection!
